薪水小偷 Wage Thief · Last updated 11 August 2026

薪水小偷 Wage Thief (“the app”) is a satirical break timer. It works out roughly how much your employer is paying you while you are away from your desk, and lets you spend that imaginary money feeding a virtual pet. This policy explains exactly what data leaves your phone and what does not.

The short version There are no accounts and no user database, and we run no server. Everything you enter stays in local storage on your phone, and deleting the app erases it permanently. The app shows ads served by Google AdMob, which may use an advertising identifier for personalization if you allow tracking.

What stays on your device

All of this is stored in the app’s local storage on your phone. It is never uploaded, never backed up to us, and we cannot see it. We have no server, so there is nowhere for it to go.

What is sent off your device

Nothing you enter or record. We operate no server and the app never uploads your salary figure, your activity, your pet or your reminders anywhere.

The only network traffic the app generates is Google AdMob requesting ads, described under Advertising below.

The salary figure

The number you enter is an estimate you choose yourself. The app never verifies it, never connects to any employer, payroll provider or bank, and never transmits it. It is used only to multiply against elapsed time so the on-screen counter has something to count.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, the app uses iOS local notifications, scheduled and delivered by your own device. No push server is involved, so no notification token is created and we have no way to know what you scheduled. You can turn reminders off inside the app, or revoke the permission entirely in iOS Settings.

Advertising

The app shows ads served by Google AdMob:

AdMob may use an advertising identifier (IDFA) to show ads relevant to you and to measure ad performance.

iOS asks whether to allow tracking (App Tracking Transparency). If you say no, or if you are in the EU/UK and do not consent via the on-screen form, you still see ads — they are just not personalized. Declining never blocks any feature of the app.

AdMob’s handling of this data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and, for advertising specifically, Google’s ads and data page.

Third parties

The app relies on one third-party service: Google AdMob, described in the Advertising section above. There are no analytics SDKs, no crash reporters, and no other trackers. We still run no server of our own.

What we do not do

Not financial advice

Every figure in the app is a rough arithmetic estimate based on a number you typed in yourself. It is a joke about office life, not a payroll record, a timesheet, or financial advice. Do not rely on it for any employment, tax or financial purpose.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your choices

Changes

If this policy changes materially — for example if advertising is added in a future version — the updated version will be posted at this address with a new “last updated” date.
